Animations from zbrush

(Cderolin) #1

Hi, I was wondering if its possible to upload animations from zbrush using the FBX export feature? It is possible to save zbrush layers as blend shapes using this but when I try to import these there is no animation loaded (the modle itself loads fine though). I thought I would check in case I'm missing something, or to find out if it's something that might be planned? Thanks!

@cderolin could you provide us with a sample or a sketchfab URL?
I wasn't aware of an animated FBX export from ZBrush. We support morph animation so I guess it should work and would love to check why it doesn't!

Thanks. I've upladed the file and a screen shot of the export window. It's just a zsphere while I play with proof of concept.
The models url is https://skfb.ly/67FNw

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks, Caroline

@cderolin thanks for the sample. Looking at the FBX in 3dsmax/maya, it looks like there are no animation curve. So the BlendShapes are correctly exported but not the animation.
Looking at the Zbrush fbx exportimport documentation it seems that it's the intended behavior and you'd have to add animation curves in another software.

Thats a shame but thanks for confirming. I guess I better learn Blender then!
