API Key......how do I get one?

(Nimac) #1

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm brand new to Sketchfab. I have just registered and would like to have a try at uploading a model. However, I have no API key. How do I get one?

Once logged on the website click on Profile Menu (the Avatar) -> Settings -> "password and API"

@nimac what uploader do you need the API token for? We could probably improve instructions for this exporter on how to find the API token.

(Nimac) #4

I think that would be the Modo uploader. -neil.

Thanks for directing me to where I can find the API Key. I don't believe the tutorial explains this well enough. I had no idea how to get it......thought you may email it to me. Thought there may be a link after registering. No, I had to click on my Avatar, then go to settings, then look for Password and API. Not very intuitive IMO, or maybe my intuition just isn't good enough? -neil.

Hi @nimac,

could you give me the link of that tutorial?

(Mauricesvay) #7

@nimac Usually the instructions are on the exporter page https://sketchfab.com/exporters/modo and in the exporter itself, but this one doesn't seem to. We'll try to improve that in the future. Thanks for the info!

The exporter pages, including https://sketchfab.com/exporters/modo, have a link to the API Token in the instructions. These pages should be considered the "tutorials" while the blog post tutorials (if that's what we're talking about?) are mostly just announcements.
