[Done] Between the Darkness... and Light

(Videogamefan) #1

Hello Everyone!

Just decided to open a topic. My priority is to do my best creating a nice voxel diorama till February 24. I will be sharing a pack of tutorial-like WIP assets such as photos and sketches that can somehow illustrate my modeling approach. I'll be using a combination of tools in order to setup my scene and tweek the colors.

Wish you all so many beautiful moments during your voxel editing.

Hi @videogamefan!

Thanks for joining the Heroic Voxels contest and welcome on board

I have just given you one month of Sketchfab PRO - you can use it to add up to 20 annotations to your model.

Some more useful information to get you started:

  • Read the contest updates - they will contain updates on contest progress, weekly tutorials and more.. I recommend you 'track' that topic so you'll receive notifications (instructions are in the post).
  • Frequently Asked Questions are in the (you guessed it) FAQ topic.

Okay everyone! You ready? Let's Go!

Interpreting things into my own visual style is one of my favorite hobbies.
My entry is gonna be a highly personal-stylized tribute to a game many of us miss a lot… Prince of Persia Prodigy.

More is coming...

And now... a sample of ancient empire of Light's architecture

@elbriga @bartv I kindly invite you to come for a visit

(Bart) #10

Fantastic work! How did you do the nice soft lighting?

(Videogamefan) #11

Thanks so much @bartv you mean the soft lighting in the interactive diorama?

(Bart) #12

No, in the renders. Is that all MagicaVoxel? Are you going to add baked lighting to the Sketchfab version too?

(Videogamefan) #13

Actually it's a combination of Maya and MagicaVoxels.

As far as I know Maya doesn't support that kind of Smart UV which is available for Blender. So baking AO s using Maya need a whole processes of unwrapping and might be a little bit tricky, but I've managed to do some kind of hand painted AO for the final entry

And here is the final entry...
