Ground shadows: Variable height according to explorer

(Yannick Deharo) #1

Hi !
I tested the new Ground shadows feature on my draptor and I noticed that the “height” seemed different according if it is displayed on Firefox or Chrome. As a result, on Firefox, the draptor seems to be in contact with the ground, but not on Chrome. Not a Big problem here, but I am happy to be a beta tester for each new feature… Sketchfab team, you really do great job !

Hello, thanks for reporting the issue.
This is a known issue and a fix will be deployed soon.

@nehon. I’m taking advantage of this conversation for a quick question :

Is the occlusion plane excluded from screen space reflection? The bottom of my wheel rim, very grey, seems to break the effect of the occlusion. Is it planned to include the occlusion plane in the SSR?

Sorry for the late answer.
No, the plane is not taken into account in screen space reflection.
For now nothing is planned, but we have some thought about how to use the ground with SSR (both receiving and producing reflection).
But it’s not yet clear what we are going to do.

Cool !
I didn’t thought about the ground producing reflection, but it could be amazing too !
