I need to import more Lights!

(Djtobi93) #1

Hey there

I have a problem
I am making a model in Blender (a tube):

Now I read that I can just import 3 Lights from Blender or fbx files (normaly
I export to OBJ files).
But for my tube I would prefer some more lights (also want to do a signal)
so is it possible to import more then 3 lights somehow with .fbx or .obj?

Thanks and best Regads,
Toby

Hi @djtobi93!

At the moment this is not possible I'm afraid. It isn't really an importing issue but more of a realtime rendering bottleneck. Many realtime lights are expensive in terms of performance so the "three lights limitation" is currently as it is by design to keep it running smoothly.
Maybe you can bake your lighting onto a texture? In that case there won't be a limitation about the number of lights.

If baking sounds like it will work for you, there is a good tutorial on the subject here: https://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/introduction-baking-cycles/

If you follow the steps in that tutorial you should be good to go, then just upload your model again and apply the baked texture maps and set the shading to shadeless.
