Issue with viewer on Safari

safari
viewer

(Wepesto) #1

Hello, since this morning I'm experiencing an issue on Safari: the viewer is all white and checkered. Both on the website and when embedded.
I hope it's because I'm an unexperienced new user and I'm missing something.
No problems with Chrome or Safari on iPhone.
I'm on a Mac Book Pro with Sierra.
Thanks!
Nicola

Hello, do you have some extensions like ublock or ublock origin? If you do could you please try to disable them and try again?

(Wepesto) #3

Thanks for the reply. I have no ad blockers on this Mac. And I've noticed the issue just this morning. I didn't open Sketchfab since monday.

(Wepesto) #4

this is how I see the models. Probably a bug in my browser.

(Rémy Bouquet) #5

I have a similar setting as you and I can't reproduce. Does it happen on any models or some in particular?

(Wepesto) #6

Looks like it's any model

(Rémy Bouquet) #7

Could you be more specific on your hardware / browser version?
And could you send a link to a model that fails for you?
We fail to reproduce the issue.

(Wepesto) #8

Sure!
Hardware:
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
2,6 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Safari Versione 11.0.2 (12604.4.7.1.4)

Any model fails. But only on Safari.

(Wepesto) #9

Another thing: the 3D editor works perfectly, I see the models without issue.

(Amqsolutions) #10

Greetings.
I don't know whether a resolution was found for the issue, but I can report that I am experiencing it as well as of this morning. I was working with the models without a problem yesterday, but see exactly the problem wepesto reports (all models, both through embedded viewer and on Sketchfab site).

The difference is that I ran the MacOS update to 10.13.2 this morning (Safari version 11.0.2).

#12

Could everyone experiencing this issue please include all hardware/software specs (as @wepesto did), along with a screenshot of this report from Safari? http://webglreport.com/

This will help us debug and hopefully find a pattern.

(Amqsolutions) #13

Here are the specs for my machine:

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)
2,9Ghz Core i5
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB

macOS 10.13.2
Safari 11.0.2

Everything works fine in Chrome, and Firefox. No models work in Safari

(Projekthelden) #14

I have the same issue with Safari and the latest OSX update. By the way: three.js has the same problem with some examples - three.js example: webgl_geometry_shapes

(Cameroncraig) #15

I am also having this issue. I'm running on a MacBook Pro 2013 and on the latest version of Safari and OSX.

(Rémy Bouquet) #16

It seems that this issue occurs with a combination of softwares version we cannot figure out. Also I realised we didn't ask for log report in the browser.
If anyone having the issue could check the console log in safari, and post the content in here:
First have Safari display the "Develop" menu entry: Safari / Preferences, Advanced Tab. at the bottom of the panel you can see a "Show Develop menu in menu bar" checkbox, check it.

This should add a develop menu to your menu bar.
Then go to the problematic model url and go to Develop / Show JavaScript Console . A panel should appear, copy its contend and post it here.

Thank you.

Those errors are unrelated and expected on Safari

Sketchfab is not displaying models correctly on the latest version of Safari (11.0.2) and the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6). This has been confirmed locally on two machines. One machine, a Mac Pro, is using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 with the latest drivers installed. The other machine, an iMac, is using an NVIDIA GeForce GT 130.

When using El Capitan and Chrome, the models show correctly .

On the Mac Pro, Windows 7 can be run under Boot Camp. When run this way, and when using Internet Explorer, the models show correctly.

Here is an example model URL: https://sketchfab.com/models/eb9c86a81a31403bbb01cc362f419605

As requested, the JavaScript console is posted here. The panel contents seem consistent with the other console panel posted to this discussion (which has already been designated as unrelated).

This is a relatively new development. Prior to this, Sketchfab on Safari on El Capitan worked correctly.

if anybody needs extra data, its happening to me too on my MacBook pro in safari :frowning:
