Models uploaded via org visible only by org members

I’m writing an app for an organization using the API to upload models that we’d like immediately viewable publicly via a link - it seems like being set to private should accomplish that. However, regardless of the “private” boolean I use, the models come up as “this project” under the view options. How can I make the models within this organization project immediately publicly viewable? Preferably unlisted, viewable by a link.

Sorry for the confusion. When using the API to upload into an org, you need to use the visibility parameter, rather than the private boolean parameter. It can be one of public, private, protected, org,
