Node based materials and textures

Hey guys!

I was wondering if there’s any thoughts for having a node based material editor in the 3D settings (similar to UE4 and other similar editors). That way you could parametrically adjust the materials in the 3D settings.

Maybe like a built in option in the browser to choose between the current version and a node based one. I found an open source on that works pretty similar to UE4’s:

I’d love to see something like this, espiecially for special effects :smile:
It’s probably a big question of performance and would require re-writing lots of rendering code. I’m still a big fan of the idea though .


We would love to do this one day, but it would be a pretty complex undertaking.
