Performance Issues

Hi…So i m trying out a scene with 16 512X512 texture maps to fake some caustics but the performance is so bad(animated planes).I ve never experienced such low performance before. Any tips to improve the performance in edit mode or should i just reconsider my approach?

Multiple levels of blended/additive transparency does not perform well on any gpu, even high end.

I would reconsider aproach,like just animating caustics on the pool wall and 1 water plane with refraction ?


Tnx man…I actually figured it out…It wasn t the transparency , i just had too many elements in the scene, i managed to reduce the whole caustic elements to just 16 which i then skinned as opposed to linking them as i previously did. It seems to be fine now. Can t wait to finish it!
