Random Hard Edges

Hi everyone!

Sketchfab Rocks! :smile:
Got a little problem with the the normals on this one. Some hard edges, some soft edges or smoothing groups if you will... it all looks good in Maya but when ever I import it here it seems to randomly throw some hard edges in there. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing? Seems to be a new development. Does not seem to happen with static objects.

Hey @bitgem,

cute cauldron!
From what I read in the processing logs, we detected some null normals on the cauldron geometry. In this case (one or more null normals), we always recompute all normals in the impacted geometry (using a 45° crease angle) as our shaders expect normals to be "normalizable".
The only way to bypass this is to set non-null normals everywhere.

Also, for the sake of completeness, for morph animation, we currently always smooth normals (not using any crease angle) as our tests tended to show some artifacts otherwise.
