Shadows and scene size

Hi all,
That might be obvious for many of you, but I was surprised that depending on how large the 3D scene is, the shadow "sharpness" is highly impacted.
Here I get sharp shadows with this mesh on a 'white' ground

Now here is what I get if I just increase the ground size (about 10x on X and Y) and zoom on the same area,

Again that may be expected... but is there a way to improve this?

currently sketchfab does not use cascades in their shadow map system , so sadly the bigger a scene gets the less texel data can be used to represent all shadowing.

Currently sketchfab shadow map depends on scene size, not camera position/direction
Note that using spotlight targeting a small area allow for scene independant shadow map.
Only the part in the spotlight impact the shadow map.
