Hey everyone! I'm Johnson Martin, 3d creative and Sketchfab Master. @han recently proposed the idea of having Sketchbooks here on the forum. I thought it was a great idea, so I decided to start one.

I'll be posting all my art here, including all that I wouldn't normally share on my main social platforms. So enjoy the art!

Here's a quick doodle I did last night. I was playing around with Toon style shading in Blender Cycles. This ended up being rendered in only 1 sample. So who knows, maybe Cycles is faster at Toon than even BI?

Hmmm I need to spend more time with cycles

looks like a pen drawing
cool stuff

Well, here's another "just for fun" render. A friend suggested I try a Rembrandt lighting setup. So here it is. Also used some film emulation to tweak the tone.

perfect triangle of light on that cheek
rembrandt would approve

at art school we each had to duplicate one of his paintings for an exercise, before doing our own stuff! never used oils after that.. always had more fun with acrylics

 Thanks.
Learning from the artistic masters is great for 3d art. So much to learn!

Did some openGL renders of yet again the same model. i can't get enough of this model.

Had to render via the viewport to get the nice AO noise and artifacts.
