Here's mine Bit generic, but I've never sculpted a fish before so I thought I'd give it a go ^_^
by Jodi Shadforth
i was planning to sculpt a seashell's fish (sounds weird I know)
Here's an example of what i have in mind :
Hey! This is a great concept challenge!
I've started (nearly finished) modelling a semi realistic/fantasy octopus with some steampunk goggles and a bubble jetpack. It's in 3 pieces and the octopus will be placed on the bubbles coming out of its jetpack to make it look like it's in motion..I'll share more soon:)
Hey! Here is my entry 'VIII' . Hope you like it! ^-^
Note:I will be adding a link to some pages about the parts.. and possibly editing the texture a bit.
Awesome entry! Did you do UVs for this or how did you create the bubble material?
Thanks joansantus! I unwrapped the UVs using automatic mapping in Maya, painted in Zbrush and used the occlusion texture (mask by occlusion) as an alpha channel for transparency on the bubbles.
Oh Ok, so it's not just a simple polypaint there. Decimated meshes are scary to UV for me. Thank you for the response!
It is pretty much a simple polypaint, just exported extra specular and transparency polypaints as well. And yes decimated UVing is a pain, that's why automatic mapping in Maya was the easiest way to get it. hope that was helpful

Here is a preview of my sculpt.Leafy dragons have a ton of those leafy fins around. Not sure if I should add more. Still debating with myself if I should make the arm and legs fins leafy or more dragon-like, with some claws or something.
Here is my work in progress, I am still finishing it, and maybe I will find a way how to get the texture for it if I possibly can
Good day guys, I have two questions,Does this competition have a poly limit??Is the 3d print painted or no? Or it depends if the winning sculpt is textured or not?
Not exactly a limit, id say under 2million since it will take quite a while to loadTexturing is not needed and will not be judged on it.
Shapeways is offering $100 in 3D printing credits to the winner that can be used on any model you like
does the concept have to be original? or can we make a fanart of something we like?
Very nice, incredible detail you added to your masterpiece!
Here is my Leaf Sea dragon in the sketchfab previewer. Any feedback is welcomed I hope you guys like her.
a lot of masterpieces here
