Sketchfab Community Guidelines

Community Guidelines are different to Sketchfab’s Terms of Use in that they describe the behavior and actions that we believe are the best of what our community has to offer.

Sketchfab is a place to share your creativity & passion with a huge community of like-minded 3D artists, designers, scanners and everything in between. Not only will you find amazingly talented people to be inspired by and learn from, but you will also have every opportunity to inspire and mentor people who are only just beginning their journey into the world of 3D.

With that in mind, here are some ways to ensure that everybody has the best possible experience on our platform:

Be Active, in Good Faith
Share your talent by publishing original 3D models regularly, using descriptions, tags and categories sensibly to describe your work and your process - people are interested!

Outside of publishing 3D there are many ways to engage with other members of the community. Leave likes as often as you like to receive them; leave comments in the same tone of respect and positivity that you would like to read on your own models.

Drop in on the Forum regularly to see if your expertise is in demand or just to share your process in more detail.

If you see or read something that you perceive to be offensive, obscene, or disrespectful report it to the Community Team and let them take care of it.

Be Positive
Even if you strongly disagree with something or someone you’ll find that people react a lot better to fair and constructive commentary (“This is really great idea / design. Have you considered…”) than to biased, open ended criticism (“I don’t think this is any good.”)

It’s good to remember that even though a certain process or workflow is how you do something doesn’t mean that it’s the only way to achieve something - it might sound silly, but be open to agreeing with people!

The short: there’s enough crazy stuff going on in this world, let’s make Sketchfab a supportive and respectful space.

Show respect, expect respect
The anonymity of the web is no reason to forget your humanity when sending messages, writing comments or posting 3D models. Your contributions to Sketchfab should always be grounded in respect and goodwill.

Always take 10 seconds before you hit ‘send’ or ‘upload’ to think about how your words or art could be read or perceived out of context - something you believe sounds or looks positive might come off as sarcastic, creepy, condescending or hostile to someone of a different race, gender or sexuality.

Whenever you’re on the receiving end of something you feel is abusive, first try to handle it yourself - people online can be reasonable too! If you feel out of your depth or uncomfortable replying or taking direct action you can always call on the Sketchfab Community Team to mediate matters - just hit the ‘report’ button by a comment or on a model on the main site, or flag a post on the forum.
