VR Field of View for Cardboard

I've noticed that for the cardboard the FOV is fixed at 120˚. Is there a reason for this? I would like to adjust this to a more narrow range. Is this possible?

I'm curious what do you need this for ?

FOV is headset hardware dependant and will be automatically adapted upon headset type
So FOV is fixed for now in VR and not user tweakable.

Hi Paul,

I’d like to be able to adjust the FOV for VR because 120˚ feels a bit too “fish-eyed” Humans have about 110˚ of FOV with a much wider view area than the cardboard can produce with the relatively small phone screen. I can’t tell with out testing but I’d like to try, say 70˚ FOV to see if it looks more natural.

As said it's not user tweakable, but you can test on your own server using Viewer API, and the setFov command after the model has loaded and is in cardboard mode. => https://sketchfab.com/developers/viewer/functions#api-setFov

Cardboard lens are made for 120, so take care to make not to lengthy session with modified Fov, otherwise you'll be prone to headache and "seasickness" for the rest of the day.
