We're updating our website almost every week. Sometimes changes are big and they get their own post on our blog, but sometimes they're small and we didn't really tell you about them. From now on, we'll post overviews of the changes here so you can check in if something unexpected happens.

  • Implemented texture compression:

Lots of processing magic happens to keep your textures as efficient as possible. The Editor will always use your "raw" textures, and the live viewer will used the processed versions. This is a major step towards SD/HD options on the viewer (e.g. be nice to an older machine, or force your phone to load full resolution textures)

Improvements

  • Tweaks to security, front-end performance, and UI/UX.

Fixes

  • Fixed issues related to shadows
  • Fixed issues related to alpha transparency

  • Alpha mask transparent materials can now cast shadows. See the model below - it's using an alpha mask for the cutout shape.

It's been quite a while since we had a real release. We've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to migrate our database. You should already see some performance improvements, especially on pages like folder navigation.

BIG NEWS

  • Re-uploading a model will now preserve most of your settings, materials etc! Read more on the Help Center. We're still testing this before making a big announcement about it. Note: this may not work on models that were uploaded before June 2015.
