  • We streamlined the error messages related to failed model uploads, to help everyone get to useful information more quickly :nerd_face:
  • [Store] We cleaned up the way prices are displayed around the site, for more consistent formatting $X.xx :moneybag:

  • [Data API] Updating a collection was failing if the collection contained more than 24 models
  • Viewer controls on the model page were not visible/reachable on certain phone screen sizes :iphone:

:wave: We’ve started some pretty big projects related to site performance. It doesn’t make sense to list every technical change, but hopefully the website and the 3D viewer will continue to get faster in the coming months! :rocket:

  • Student emails were sometimes not being sent the correct confirmation message on signup
  • Some inks in the notification were going to to the wrong pages
  • A couple glitches in USDZ animations were solved

  • We now (officially) support uploading models from mobile devices through the website. Just tap the up-arrow upload button from any iOS or Android device to upload files from your phone or tablet.

Fixes :bug:

  • Duplicating a model sometimes worked as expected, but showed an error message. Now, it should only show an error message when there is actually an error.
  • The previous version of a model became unavailable to view while a new version was being re-uploaded, which was not the expected behavior

  • We increased the maximum point cloud size from 10 to 50
  • We added the / shortcut to focus the search bar on any page

  • Similar to the Quest 2 update a few weeks ago, we disabled Temporal Antialiasing (TAA) for the Oculus Quest 1, which should really improve rendering performance in VR on that headset.

Fixes :bug:

  • There was an issue with some USDZ files having wrongly rotated objects
  • [Viewer API] Adding a new annotation during the onload callback prevented existing annotation tooltips from loading

  • We made some changes to transparency, separating Alpha Mask into its own channel to allow more freedom in opacity rendering (masking + blending, etc.)
  • We’ve added a Sheen channel, which is useful for rendering different types of fabric
  • We’ve added UV Transformations to 3D Settings
  • We now import and export UV Transformations, more transparency types (Transmission), Clear Coat, and Sheen via glTF / GLB only
  • We added a new default HDR environment called Studio Soft (courtesy of Browzwear). It has nice neutral colors lighting the model fairly evenly from all directions:

  • Clicking the download icon on model previews now directly opens the download popup

  • The “Share” and “Embed” buttons for collections were not working.

  • Duplicating a password-protected model did not work
  • [Viewer API] The recent changes to Alpha Masking caused some errors when changing opacity channels via the API
  • [Viewer API] Muting a video texture was not occurring fast enough to stop browser’s from blocking autoplay
  • Re-uploading failed when a duplicated texture with the same name existed in 3D Settings and the new version
  • Deleting an animation and then re-uploading the model with animation caused editing 3D Settings to fail

  • The model embed code generator was missing some optional, but recommended, attributes on the iframe element

  • Opacity settings in glTF/GLB uploads was sometimes not processed correctly
  • Textures in glTF/GLB uploads were sometimes not processed correctly
  • Morph animations in glTF/GLB uploads were sometimes not processed correctly

  • We’ve changed the way we handle models with more than 100 materials, and also reprocessed all “legacy” models that still had more than 100 materials. Instead of merging everything into 1 empty material, we “clamp” the materials at 100 and try to preserve the most important.

    • Rotations were sometimes incorrect in animated models

    • Normal maps were inverted
