  • You can now delete your own comments! There’s also a pseudo reply function, which automatically adds the @username for you

  • Deprecates a bunch of API V2 endpoints as we move toward V3. PM me if you want access to the beta!
  • Adds an “infinite slider” to VR Floor Level interface

Improvements

  • Handles more features in glTF
  • Changing your email to an eligible student domain will now send you an upgrade link (instead of just during sign up)
  • Makes filtering models by category faster :rocket:

  • Fixes a bug where picking (double clicking the model viewer) did not work correctly after scrolling down the page

  • VR World Scale can now me 5 times larger, great for viewing very small objects at a realistic scale :earth_africa: :mouse:

We’ve got huge plans for 2017. Stay tuned in the coming months for new features, big performance updates, and lots of smaller improvements to keep Sketchfab running smoothly and make your experience better than ever! :rocket:

  • You can now adjust the near clipping plane distance in 3D Settings. Enable Show advanced camera settings to access the Near clipping distance slider. Set a lower value when objects close to the camera are being clipped / cut off. This will also adjust the camera movement speed as appropriate.

Improvements

  • You can now access private model pages in the V3 API (if you know the URL)
  • Better texture sorting in 3D settings
  • Show upload date on Draft models
  • Improved performance for texture names/URLs in Viewer API
  • Improved Re-Upload behavior: we now keep old textures, so you can re-upload just the new mesh, and we update materials on a per-channel basis, so you can, for example, change the Diffuse color and we will not change any other channel settings.

Fixes

  • Setting autostart during Viewer API initialization did not load the model correctly
  • A bug where the model would disappear when changing texture filtering settings

  • API V3: You can sort models by published date
  • We now permanently merge similar materials during processing if we detect a model with more than 100 unique materials. This will solve issues where 3D Settings could not be saved due to too many material options, which was a common issue with some CAD formats.
  • Point clouds are optimized a bit better, we do not calculate vertex normals and automatically set the model to Shadeless, unless normals are provided

Fixes

  • Some UI issues with viewer controls, especially one where the Theatre Mode button was visible in embeds when it shouldn’t be :thinking:
  • Wireframe issues on models using displacement
  • MatCap on iOS should now work properly
  • Errors during some model processing, especially IGES format
  • Viewer API fails to start in Firefox

  • ui_hint URL/embed parameter: Setting to 0 will always hide the viewer hint animation (“click & hold to rotate”). Setting to 1 (default) will show the hint the first time per browser session (using a cookie). Setting to 2 will always show the hint.

  • Better support for glTF 2.0 files
  • Search is now hosted on our own domain, so it should work on networks/ISPs that block port 9243

  • Texture resolution options were missing on some models
