For the next few weeks I will be working on this beetle. It will have different purposes, but mainly I make it to be able to add anatomy. Unfortunately I don't have a May bug at hand right now, for that I have to wait until.. you know, May

P.S. most of the updates will be in the model itself until I will split the model for different purposes (animation, internal anatomy, etc)
I did a third upload of the model. Right now I am working on the mouth and head of the beetle and that is hard work: I don't have a real May bug yet (they really show themselves only around the month may, so from end April until June and sometimes July.) and most of what I can find online isn't good enough. And May bugs have to much hairs around the head and the rest of the body to see every detail. For that I need the real thing.
Next reply will be the original model for comparison.

As you can see it is hugely different! It is something I notice a lot when I am working: first models of something aren't up to par. They might look great in a laymen's eye, but they aren't correct.

Thanks! Most sources I already found, but there are some interesting ones in your list that I didn't found yet and are very useful!
Added a little bit of test-animation on the model with the first wing. Still need shapekeys for correct folding, but as a start it is nice.
