[WIP]Drugl Lord's Den - [Done]Blood River

voxel

(Rmorais) #1

Hello there everybody! I didnt know about this contest until today!
I've never played with voxels before, and this is an amazing oportunity!
I'll try to do my best to finish this one!

(Ab Red) #2

well good luck mate! tell us your concept please
and welcome to the contest!!

(Rmorais) #3

ops, bad click and the rest of my message stuck on the reply box =P

I'll try to render a Temple, sorta like and aztec or mayan temple. Also I'll try to make a nice forest with a maze and what not... I'm trying to learn the tools and create as I go.

Quick question, is there a way to simple scale up or down the model inside MagicaVoxel?
Another Update, lots of fun this voxel stuff =]

(Kyan0s) #4

Nice work ^^).

You can scale up or scale down like that :

In the bottom right of the 3d view.

(Rmorais) #5

Thanks Kyanos, but unfortunately it messes up the entire model, it seems that it is not a uniform scale but instead it removes part of the voxels that I've placed. ''/

(Rmorais) #6

Another Update...

this is so much fun! =D

(Dune Holy) #7

Looks awesome man!

(Rmorais) #8

Thank you @DuneHoly =]

Last update

(Rmorais) #9

OMG! It renders!!!

Is there a way to quick export to Sketchfab with voxel colors and all?
I tried the .obj format but it has no colors at all... what am I missing here?
Thanks =]

-Edit - I exported as a .ply file and it seems to work alright.

-Edit2- Is there a way to export all the materials as a separate file? Inside Sketchfab I can see only one mat. I wish I could control each material separately

(Nomadking) #10

You'll need to seperate the geometry into sub-meshes / objects before uploading it, since every object only gets 1 material

(Ab Red) #11

hi there.. have you seen this tutorial from @elbriga it helps a lot

(Rmorais) #12

@nomadking @AB_red thanks and thanks! gonna try it out!

(Rmorais) #13

I'm really loving playing with voxels! Still need to figure out so much, but I'm learning as I'm going.
here it is another update. Now to the villain and the hero!

Edit - I tried some other colors to the temple, I think it fits better with the rest of the scene, critics?

Edit 2 - Thanks a lot for the help setting the materials guys! I think I've managed to achieve a nice result inside Sketchfab.
Still Work in progress.

(Rmorais) #14

Last update before bed.... it is awesome how the creativity just flows with voxels...

Thanks for joining the Heroic Voxels contest and welcome on board

Some more useful information to get you started:

  • Read the contest updates - they will contain updates on contest progress, weekly tutorials and more.. I recommend you 'track' that topic so you'll receive notifications (instructions are in the post).
  • Frequently Asked Questions are in the (you guessed it) FAQ topic.

(Rmorais) #16

I think that I might be near the end, any critics or coments now will help me!

The Bloody Shaman is performing a bloody ritual!

The H stands for Hero.

(Ab Red) #17

ohohoho.. cool!! that temple tho.. it remains me with the tomb riders game..
love this project
is that metallic materials?

(Rmorais) #18

Hey! Yeah Metallic materials are awesome! thanks for the comment!

(Rickprokosch) #19

Heck yes, this one is fantastic! You've done a great job here, I love the hero, haha.

(Elbriga) #20

This is looking amazing! Reminds me of Indiana Jones ;D
Beware though, the rendering in Sketchfab is very different from MagicaVoxel! I hope you can find how to make this look awesome in realtime, it's a great concept and realisation!
